Frank S. Easton, 87, Carthage

CARTHAGE, NY — Frank S. Easton, 87, of West Street, Carthage, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 19, 2018, at the Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville.

Frank was born on May 16, 1931 at his parent’s home in Lowville, the son of the late William L. and C. Virginia (Pepper) Easton. He was a 1949 graduate of Lowville Academy.

He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1949 to 1953. Frank worked at Camp Drum with security from 1953 until 1965. He then was employed by the Post Office in Castorland and was a Rural Letter Carrier, retiring in 1986.

Frank was previously married. He later married Beverly E. Hull and she died on Dec. 10, 2006.

Frank was a member of the VFW and American Legion, both of Lowville, the National Federation of Retired Employees and a former member of the Castorland Vol. Fire Dept.

He is survived by two daughters: Linda Ann Noftsier of Croghan and Catherine Easton of Castorland, two sons: James (Bonnie) Easton of Lyons Falls and John Easton of Liverpool, a step daughter, Tammy Phelps-Harris of Albany and several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He is predeceased by two brothers, William and Joseph Easton.

Memorial services will be held noon Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home in Carthage with Wayne Arnold officiating. A calling hour will precede the services from 11 a.m. to nnon. Spring burial with military honors will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery.
