WATERTOWN, NY — Rachel Lynn Bozzuto, 23, homeless, was charged by Watertown police on Monday with second-degree assault, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Bozzuto is accused of stabbing a 48-year-old woman with a folding knife causing a laceration to the victim’s chest area at about 9:29 a.m. Monday at 510 Lansing St., according to court documents.
Bozzuto was apprehended by police minutes after the stabbing in the 100 block of E. Main Street.
The victim was transported by Guilfoyle Ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center for treatment.
Bozzuto was arraigned Monday evening in CAP Court and ordered held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building with bail set at $5,000 cash.
The victim provided the following statement to police:
“On 9/21/2026 at around 9:29 a.m. I got in an argument with a white skinny female that had short brown curly hair. I do not know the above mentioned female’s name. The female came in the door with my friend Tree to shower. I know Tree and the female to be homeless. While the female and Tree were at my house located at 510 Lansing St. after the female showered she made a snarky comment about me and I told them to leave my house. The female grabbed a bag that was mine and tried to leave the house. I then grabbed the bag and told her it was my bag. The female then turned around and I thought she hit me. I then saw what looked like a silver knife in her hand. At this point when I looked down I saw a hole in my shirt and blood coming from the right side of my chest. The female and Tree then walked down the stairs and left. I told Tree don’t let her out of your sight. I then called 911 and began to feel like I was going to pass out. I was able to tell dispatch the female left wearing ripped jeans with a hoodie around her waits and a t-shirt on. The female then began walking on foot toward E. Main Street with Tree. Upon the police and ambulance arrive, I was treated and advised the female was being brought over so I could confirm it was the same female who stabbed me.”
