Sally E. Shaw, 76, Croghan

CROGHAN, NY  –  Sally E. Shaw, 76, of Mechanic Street, Croghan, passed away Sunday afternoon, Nov. 10, 2019, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

A funeral Mass will be said 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, with Rev. Donald Manfred, pastor, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be follow at the Indian River Cemetery, Indian River, NY. A gathering at St. Stephen’s Church fellowship hall will immediately follow the burial. All are welcome.

Arrangements are with the Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, NY.

She is survived by four children, Deborah and Walter Hartshorne of Croghan, Darlene Hawkins of Manlius, Laurie and Bryant Weaver of Conway, SC; Joey Kloster of Croghan; a daughter-in-law, Linda Kloster of Harrisville; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Chartrand of Croghan; a sister, Catherine Kraus of Liverpool; a sister-in-law, Anne Chartrand of Lowville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two sons, Jeffrey S. Kloster and Todd F. Kloster; a granddaughter, Amy-Jo Kloster-Malo; a brother, Gale Chartrand; and a sister, Shirley Chartrand who died as a child; a brother-in-law, John Kraus; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Chartrand.

Sally was born on May 8, 1943 in the Lowville, NY, a daughter of the late Anselm F. and Mary E. Everard Chartrand.  She attended Father Leo Memorial School in Croghan and later received her GED.  A previous marriage to Francis Kloster Jr. ended in divorce. Sally worked as a custodian for Beaver River Central School from 1978-1990, upon retirement.

On July 26, 1986, she married Charles C. Shaw in Beaver Falls, NY.  Charles died on March 6, 2007.

Sally was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan.

She enjoyed playing canasta, going to bingo and the casino.  Sally enjoyed baking cookies for her family and community friends.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
